Artech Lighting was pleased to welcome local MP, Mary Kelly-Foy to our Durham City factory just before the Easter bank holiday.

Mary is keen to engage with businesses in her constituency and hear of their successes and any barriers to growth they face.

Stuart Mary

We welcomed the opportunity to showcase the exciting projects we have delivered in recent years and talk about the positive impact modern lighting has on the drive for carbon neutrality and help businesses, public sector organisations and homeowners save on their energy bills.

Artech also outlined the barriers UK manufacturers face when bidding for public and government contracts. Successful local economies depend on people, businesses and public bodies buying local and likewise a successful UK economy relies on our government first of all looking to buy British.

Artech Lighting will go up against any lighting manufacturer in the world on quality, efficiency, service and particularly price… but we can’t do that if we are not even considered, as has happened during recent government contract tenders.

Mary was a keen listener and even tried her hand at wiring up one of our Flowline products. We look forward to welcoming her back in the near future.
